Drama is a play which is
kind of narrative genre to express human feeling. It can be played by whoever
wants to express his/her acting toward the audiences of the play.
In this modern era, drama is
not only performed in the big theater but also in the school area. Nowadays,
drama itself is considered as the obligatory lesson for the students in some
schools. Drama for Schools aims to help teachers provide an authentic, active
learning experience for their students by introducing teachers to drama-based
instructional strategies and helping them to apply these concepts to their
lessons (Cawthon & Dawson, 2009). This will encourage the teachers to use
drama-based instruction techniques.
In my opinion, giving drama
lesson for students in school has many advantages both for the teacher and the
students. Working together in the drama performance will gives the teacher and
the students some important lessons. How to cooperate well with each other in a
team is the most important lesson the students will acquire. It requires a good
cooperation very much and it challenges every member to deal with varying
opinions. Learning to compromise and communicate effectively with the other
team members helps them work productively toward a common goal. Certainly, it
will be useful for them in designing a
goal for their study plan. Also, the students can learn from the moral values
of the drama being played. For the teacher, giving the drama will be the
alternative teaching-learning activity. Conducting the lesson in which the
students are interested on.
